I got the Invisible Children club (Also known as Advocates for Africa) involved with the Not For Sale campaign today, and I'm pretty damn pleased with myself, because I have a club that will sponsor me while I try and spread awareness throughout the school. I walked up to the teacher who runs the club, and said "Hi, my name's Samantha, and I would like to talk to you." And I talked to her. I told her I wanted to spread awareness of the Not For Sale campaign. I told her why it was important for Chaparral students to know this was going on. I told her about the 17,000 people in our own back yard that are enslaved. She introduced me to Ellen, and that she and Ellen would help me, and that I just had to come to the club next week ♥ I'm pretty pleased with myself. Plus I'll be joining Advocates, and it's a really cool club itself, I said it like 5 different times when I was up there today. "This is great. This thing is great. I had no idea this was like it is. This is great."
FCCLA's doing the Snow Pile again this year, and I volunteered to spend two full days working it, at the hospital, 6AM-6PM. I don't have the dates yet, but I'll let everyone know, so no one expects me those days. Basically, the snow pile is where the family of the kids at the Children's hospital can go and pick out free gifts for their kids. It's really important to me that I do it, and I'm really...looking foreword to it almost. We're also adopting a family in FCCLA, one for Thanksgiving, one for Christmas. It's all coming up really fast, so I hope we have time for it. I'm hoping we can get a lot of people involved, so if you go to Chaparral, please participate in the Snow Pile this year!! Anything helps. This year we need things for Teenagers, Babies and Toddlers in particular, we have a lot for kids ages 6-12, but nothing really for teenagers, and nothing for babies and toddlers. There are a lot of young people that could use the help, and FCCLA appreciates it.
I have a field trip next Tuesday for ACE, with just the executive team. It'll be really nice, I'm excited about it already. Especially lunch. I love lunch.
CCU sent me a bunch of stuff in the mail basically telling me COME TO OUR SCHOOL and NO, NO WE WON'T GIVE YOU A SCHOLARSHIP. ...Thanks guys. ;__; I still really want to go there, but I'm going to wait at least a year.
Also, Adkin Blue Ribbon Packing Co. was recently involved in a child labor scandal. As of right now, Wal*Mart has pulled their produce from the shelves, but guys, this just goes to show, pay attention to where your food comes from. Be a smart consumer, and please don't buy food from people who use illegal forms of labor.
